Spanish marble, although not as famous as its Italian cousins has been quarried for over 5,000 years. This marble adorns the Alhambra in Grenada, where construction began in 1238. In 1492 Christopher Columbus received the royal endorsement for his expedition to America from Ferdinand and Isabella in the Alhambra.
