The two main species of French Oak are Quercus Robur and Quercus Petraea. These are prized for their high tannin content which results in their rich color. The base of these trees known as the “A” section is used for making wine barrels. The “B” and “C” sections are used for flooring and furniture. In my option, it’s the most beautiful oak for flooring. A limed and oiled Provence finish and Limoges, a warm natural brown oiled finish. This re-claimed oak is exceptionally well priced. Fireplaces – Now is the Season to Start Planning your Stone Fireplace

Fireplaces create a focal point for any room in the house. To look and function just right they have to be made from natural materials such as stone or marble and of course, provide warmth and coziness for the winter. The modern bolection, the 17th century French, the Westport, and the Oslo. All Fireplaces are designed and made to fit the room, being made in the right proportion and material to fit the house and decor. We design and draw a fireplace in CAD with a 3D view and then build it custom from a large variety of materials. Marble fireplace sections seen here in a variety of marbles: breccia, calacatta, carrara and grey Spanish marble. Shown here are simple modern designs, but there are hundreds of traditional and contemporary designs to choose from. These are reclaimed antique French Fireplaces. Although you have to accept the size, you can add slips and blocks to make them fit your space. Some of the simpler farmhouse types are surprisingly affordable. Another option is to have a fireplace built in a traditional stone and have it hand antiqued. Shown here are some examples of what you can achieve in an aged or patinated look encompassing the design and specifications you want.

Authentically Beautiful, Antique Reclaimed Floors

To see the full product selection please visit our website by clicking the button below. This Antique Blond Barr has been reclaimed from the Limoges region in France and comes in a random format. This works extremely well in both modern farmhouse settings and more traditional homes. This marble is reclaimed from the southern part of Spain known as Andalusia. A great amount of it comes from churches which have fallen into disrepair. It is becoming very rare and hard to find given that only a limited amount was used inside these buildings. We have approximately 1,200 sq ft in stock, which has been sorted and refurbished into a stunning offering and at a price which cannot be beaten. Antique terracotta reclaimed from France. These tiles are an exceptional lot with vibrant colors in hues of peaches, creams and orches. If you are building or designing with a southern French feel, then this floor is a must. 9″ x 9″ This antique grey barr was reclaimed from near Montpellier, France. This floor is known as the jewel of reclaimed limestone and comes shown here in a random format. Its predominantly grey hue has been worn over the years to produce a perfectly patinated varied surface.

Winter Season Favorites

We crave color and warmth in the winter, these natural hue materials will give us that. They retain heat so much better than manmade materials. Antique reclaimed French terracotta, in stock in an unusually large size of 9″x 9″. The color hues and timeless charm of this floor is perfect for sunrooms, kitchens and courtyards in warm climates. French oak herringbone engineered has brown honey-colored tones which exude warmth and comfort. Because this floor is engineered it is compatible with underfloor heating. It is also an environmentally green floor having no VOC’s and sourced from sustainable forests. Green Jura Limestone is a green colored stone with hint of bronze. This floor is a cultured change from beige and grey colors. Available in 16″ x 24″ with a honed finish. Perfect for any room in the house. Bitter chocolate limestone is a highly unusual limestone in dark chocolate tones. Ideal for jewel box powder rooms or small foyers.

Modern Checkerboard Natural Stone Flooring

The use of natural materials, honed marble and limestone in a modern setting, create an interesting and enduring look. These materials are very easy to maintain. Extracted from the same quarry that they used to build the Alhambra 750 years ago. This product is reasonably priced and well suited for modern or traditional buildings. Bulgarian white and Belgian blue limestone checkerboard. Exhibit a soft and pleasing look using these two hard limestones. Available in several sizes and at a very reasonable price point. This pattern we call the Grenada steps. It’s made up of three different Spanish marble: grey black and white. It’s pleasing to the eye, exhibiting very subtle variations and markings. Honed French limestone, what is there not to love? French refined and blue Vix in an alternating pattern. The French refined is the same material that the Louvre was built from and the Vix blue is a rare blue limestone with fossilization from France.

Grey & Black Toned Limestone

Grey and black toned stone is and always will be a perfect basis for any project. These color tones ground a room and provide a starting point on which to build on. Belgium Blue Limestone is a very hard limestone shown here with a slight distress in 20″ x random length flagstones.  Also available in honed sizes of 16″ x 16″, 16″ x 24″, 24″ x 24″, 20″ x 40″, 36″ x 36″, and 3″ x 12″ slightly distressed. This new product was developed because of the increasing rarity and price of the antique reclaimed grey barr limestone. It has grey and brown tones with the perfect amount of hand distressing. Offered in the traditional size of 21″ wide flagstone by 24″ to 30″ in length. Gargano grey limestone is a beautiful limestone and the hardest limestone in the world. Shown here in a flamed finish with fossilization. This stone is very versatile with a huge number of finishes and available in any size from slab to 12″ x 12″. This stone can be used for both interiors and exteriors in any climate. Paros grey is a very hard, light grey stone. Consistent in color with a very subtle variation. It can be used inside or outside offered in a large selection of sizes and finishes. We have just had it tested for freeze thaw at 125 cycles and it passed with flying colors.

Different & Elegant Italian Porcelain

Although porcelain is a man-made product, in some cases it can be surprisingly elegant and practical for various applications. Definitely a touch and feel material. Here we see the white calacatta porcelain. Sized at 16″ x 32″ with a semi-matt undulated finish. A wonderful tile for any application on walls or floors. Porcelain white limestone with a slight distressed surface. An excellent copy of a slight textured limestone. In stock and sized at 12″ x 24″ and 24″ x 24″. We also have stock of its sisters in taupe and grey. This porcelain wood parquet comes sized in 24″ x 24″. We have a large stock of this very pleasing looking material.

What’s New: Simple Elegant Patterns are Back

This design is both simple and elegant, shown here in Spanish grey and white marble, the grey marble has a texture to add interest. It is adaptable in size and proportion and would work in an entry way, a sweeping exterior walkway, a small powder room or a grand ballroom. A simple plaid design. The adaptability of this floor can be adjusted in size and proportion to suit a kitchen or sunroom, or any other space. Terracotta is back. This striped pattern can be used as a stripe or as a chevron, made from antique reclaimed French terracotta, it is simple and adaptable to any space. Perhaps the simplest of all patterns with a small cabochon. Shown here in a French limestone used to build the Louvre. Adaptable in size to fit any refined space.

I waited more than 50 years to return to the most beautiful cathedral in the world and realized what had sparked my passion for stone. The marble on the floors, walls, facade and columns show that natural materials are timeless, keep their beauty, and patina. Here we can see the exquisite black and white marble columns, sculptured and set to support the arched roof without steel or concrete. One can only imagine the awe that it would have inspired in 1250 among the population of Siena. The Marble floors are no less awe inspiring and have very much stood the test of time. The floor borders are just as inspiring, and the geometric patterns will form the basis of a new collection from Versailles Surfaces. This is the first of our antiqued creations in this new Line.
